About the Author:

In the journey of life there are a lot of hurdles, ups and downs, struggles etc. In the midst of struggle comes success. Life is the way we live and focus on our priorities. “If one is not focused in life, life will take its focus away from him”. Life has a journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. According to Sergio Tinoco, a proud American; “A person must find the courage to live a complete and full life”. We learn to live when we stop being afraid. And by engaging in critical analysis of our own thoughts, motives, emotions, and behavior. A tolerant person who lives without fear extends charity to the entire world.

Primary School

The story of my life has taken this phase, my name is Omoragbon Patrick Oni and this About the Author. I came into the United State on March 26, 2023, as a Permanent Residence. I hailed from Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria (Africa). Christianity as my religious, I was born February 4th, 1983. I attended Iguodala Primary School, Benin City where I obtained my Primary School Leaving Certificate from 1991 to 1996. After that, I sat for the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and obtained Senior School Certificate Examination (S.S.C.E), at Richon High School, Benin City, in 2003. At this time, things were still okay.

After High School

When I was very tender, and depending on my parents for sustenance, my father was married to two women. My mother was the first wife in the home. I am the fifth position in the family, out of fourteen children. My father worked as a civil servant with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Benin City. I was much closer to my father than any of my siblings, so that anywhere he went, I followed him. He assured me that he would be ready to shoulder my education to the height I wanted to go.

Fateful Day

On that fateful day, as I came from the library, I saw a crowd of people in my compound. Their faces were disfigured. I asked what is going on? Vehemently, I was told that my father had a fatal accident. That prompted me to rush to the scene. Once there, I found his vehicle was totaled beyond repair. I burst into tears, knowing that he had died. All the promises he made to me seemed to be an empty basket. I look up and down, the sky was very far. After the burial rite of my father, nobody cared about my education. I have to forfeit the admission to higher institution since there was no sponsor.
However, I had to take the bull by the horns. I started working as a laborer for both the university and outside. Feeling depressed when I saw my mate with books in his hand and I was carrying concrete in mine. I was also working as a factory laborer. I still had the belief that I must go to school. Further down the line the site folded up and the project was abandoned.

Computer School

With the money I had saved, I learned how to operate and become computer literate. I went to the Leona Computer and Management Study in Benin City. That is where I became familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and CorelDraw. During that time, I purchase a motorcycle which I use for commercial purpose to help with expenses.

University of Benin, Benin City

About The Author

Hereafter, I gained admission into Federal University (UNIVERSITY OF BENIN, BENIN CITY). I studied Accounting. During my undergraduate pursuit, there were a lot of challenges; some good and some bad. They helped me to propel to face tomorrow’s challenges. Throughout my studies at the University, I remained an abiding, and lawful student. I took my studies very serious. And I paid all my due to avoid owing the school. I did what I had to do to graduate. Much of what I did was due to the support of both my eldest brother and Sister. To the glory of God, I graduated with a second-class honor in 2013.

Time for a Career

Objectively, I feel I am ready to utilize my skills and abilities in a dynamic and challenging environment. All working towards the attainment of organizational goals while developing myself. As a young graduate, with potential, I started work as an Admin Manager, at Nkiru-Ezu Global Company Ltd. My day-to-day administrative function was to conduct routine supervision of staff and settling all corresponding invoices. I conducted monetary checks and validation of organizational funds.

I aspired to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to meet goals. From March 7, 2016 to February 28, 2023, I worked at LAPO Microfinance Bank Ltd, as an Accountant. My job was to prepare & reconcile the branch monthly bank statement. As well as process payroll, oversee operational accounts payable, verify & keep clients and guarantors accounts, and prepare and send all reports. This prevented the organizational assets from malicious damages etc.

Concordia University Mequon, WI 53097, U.S.

My thirst for knowledge and versatility, caused me to seek admission at the Concordia University. There I studied human resources (HR). I focused on maximizing employee performance in the direction of employer’s strategic objectives and goals. I have an interest in Concordia University, because it has a good reputation and is known for a quality education. It has the best graduate program, job opportunities etc.

My aim of venturing into this program is to be reform and gain more knowledge. Also, to use the knowledge acquired to promote and add to the national development of the country. There is a saying that says, “if you are not informed, you will be deformed”. Seek knowledge everywhere in the world, because education is the best legacy that one can have. I am not the laid-back type. I meet deadlines, I am hardworking and well-focused.

With the assurance that I could relocate to the U.S upon my acceptance by the Concordia University, coupled with the resources, time & effort, I was still denied a study visa, twice. It really got me down and frustrated me, however, I still had the courage to carry on and remain optimistic. Today I am in the U.S with God on my side and throuh the support of my amaiable wife. May the good Lord continue to bless and prosper her and our kids.

In conclusion, the key to success is hard work. Hard work is an umbrella of greatness and a product of success in life. To be focused is to grab every opportunity that comes your ways relentlessly. Diversification brings direction and helps to avoid the pitfall of laying all your eggs in one basket.
